SCUBAPRO Seawing Nova vs Supernova: Which Fin to Pick?

SCUBAPRO Seawing Nova vs Supernova fins: blade, foot pocket, sizes and weight as SCUBAPRO states them, who each fin suits, where the Nova Gorilla fits, and our prices.

2026-10-16 · 7 min read

SCUBAPRO Seawing Nova and Seawing Supernova are open-heel fins from the same family. The names are close, but the blades work differently. The short answer: Seawing Nova uses a hinge that lets the whole wing-shaped blade pivot, which SCUBAPRO says gives blade-fin power with split-fin kicking comfort, and it comes in six colours. Seawing Supernova is the 2022 model that SCUBAPRO calls a step up from the Seawing Nova in performance, construction, fit and versatility. Its central panel sets the blade angle to your kick, and the blade comes off the foot pocket, so it packs down for travel.

This guide compares them as SCUBAPRO describes them on its official product pages, its size chart and the Seawing Supernova user guide. Prices are the prices on our site on 16 October 2026; the product page always has the latest.

Seawing Nova vs Supernova: the differences

Model Blade Sizes · colours Price on our site
SCUBAPRO Seawing Nova Whole blade pivots, 45º XS–XL · 6 colours ฿8,735
SCUBAPRO Seawing Supernova Centre panel self-adjusts XS–XL · 2 colours ฿9,700

Both are made of Monprene®, and SCUBAPRO lists both as positively buoyant, so they float. Seawing Nova in Pink goes up to size L.

Seawing Nova: the whole blade pivots

  • G4 hinge: SCUBAPRO's own articulated joint lets the entire blade pivot and push water. SCUBAPRO says the wing-shaped blade strikes a near-perfect balance of stiffness and flex, so kicking comes with little to no ankle or leg strain.
  • 45º blade angle: Pivot Control Technology holds the blade at 45º, the angle SCUBAPRO calls the most efficient, however soft or hard you kick. Variable Blade Geometry wing tips arc upwards for more power and stability.
  • Many kicks: It works at high and low speed, on frog kicks and reverse kicks, and SCUBAPRO says it handles better when you make small changes of direction.

Seawing Supernova: a blade that sets its own angle

  • Auto-Adjust central panel: A membrane in the middle of the blade changes the blade angle with your kick: easy kicking when you cruise, full power when you need it. Pivot Control Technology keeps the angle in the 40º to 50º range SCUBAPRO calls the most efficient, and the Hydra-loop channel sends water towards the tip for more thrust.
  • Twin-tip winglets: The blade tip splits in two for better control and manoeuvring, on frog kicks and alternate kicks, at high and low speed.
  • Blade and foot pocket come apart: They join with the Socket-Lock Connecting System, easy to put together and take apart, and ship assembled. For warm water without boots, you can swap in the Full-Foot pocket (sold separately).
  • Award: It won a Red Dot Award for product design.

SCUBAPRO made it for avid recreational and professional divers who want speed, power and kick control in all conditions.

Foot pocket and strap

Both are open-heel fins, worn with boots.

  • Seawing Nova: A self-adjusting, marine-grade bungee heel strap makes the fins easy to put on and take off. Co-molded Grip Pads on the footplate give a non-skid grip on wet surfaces.
  • Seawing Supernova: A marine-grade bungee heel strap. SCUBAPRO's user guide lists oversize drain holes, a taller instep, extended grip pads and a strap with micro-adjust (+10 mm / −10 mm). Because the blade is a separate part, you can move it to the Full-Foot pocket for bare feet.

If you want one blade for both boots and bare feet, Seawing Supernova does that with the extra Full-Foot pocket. For Seawing Nova, SCUBAPRO lists no Full-Foot pocket.

Sizes

The two fins share the same size chart. SCUBAPRO sizes the fin by your shoe size and boot thickness: the thicker the boot, the bigger the size. For example, EU 41 (men's US 8) is S with a 3 mm boot, and M with a 5 mm or heavy / dry boot. The full chart is on each product page.

  • Seawing Nova: XS, S, M, L and XL in every colour except Pink, which goes up to L.
  • Seawing Supernova: XS, S, M, L and XL. Sizes XS–M use the Midi Blade; sizes L–XL use the Maxi Blade.

Both come in XS for small feet. Between sizes? Ask us on LINE. You can exchange sizes within 7 days if unused and never in the water (you pay shipping both ways unless we sent the wrong item or it is faulty).

Size and weight

Model Length × width Foot pocket Weight
Seawing Nova 55.5 × 23 cm 24.1 × 8.9 cm 1.56 kg
Seawing Supernova 55.8 × 22 cm 24 × 8 cm 1.67 kg

SCUBAPRO does not say which size these numbers are for, and other sizes may differ. Use them as a rough guide, not instead of trying the fins on.

What's in the box

  • Seawing Nova: one pair of fins and a SCUBAPRO Boat Bag.
  • Seawing Supernova: one pair of fins (blade and open-heel pocket already assembled), the Modular Fin System Multi-Tool with 2 sets of lock plates, and a SCUBAPRO Boat Bag.

Also: Seawing Nova Gorilla

  • SCUBAPRO Seawing Nova Gorilla · ฿9,860: It looks virtually the same as the Seawing Nova, with the G4 joint, wing-shaped blade, 45º blade angle and bungee strap. The difference is a special additive in the Monprene® that makes the blade stiffer and snappier, for more power, control and feedback, and more effective sculling, frog kicks and back kicks. That is why SCUBAPRO calls it a good choice for tech divers. Sizes S–XL (no XS), in Army Green or Orange.
