SCUBAPRO

Seawing Nova Gorilla

The Seawing Nova, made stiffer: more power, more feedback

Seawing Nova Gorilla looks virtually the same as SCUBAPRO's Seawing Nova. The difference is the material: a special additive in the Monprene® compound gives the blade more stiffness and snap, for more power and control. SCUBAPRO made it for divers who like a stiffer fin with more feedback. The stiffer blade also makes sculling, frog kicks and back kicks more effective, which is why SCUBAPRO calls it a good choice for tech divers. Open heel with a self-adjusting bungee strap, sizes S–XL, in Army Green or Orange.

Highlights

Monprene® with a special additive: stiffer, more feedback

The fin is made of Monprene®, which SCUBAPRO calls virtually indestructible. In the Gorilla it carries a special additive for more stiffness and more feedback. The rest is Seawing Nova design: the wing-shaped blade, Pivot Control Technology and a self-adjusting bungee heel strap.

The whole blade pivots, at 45º

SCUBAPRO's own G4 articulated joint lets the entire blade pivot and push water. The wing-shaped blade balances stiffness and flex, so you cruise efficiently. Pivot Control Technology holds a 45º angle of attack, and the Variable Blade Geometry wing tips arc upwards.

Better sculling, frog kicks and back kicks

It works at high and low speed, through frog kicks, reverse kicks and small changes of direction. The stiffer blade makes sculling, frog-kicking and back-kicking more effective, which is why SCUBAPRO calls it a good choice for tech divers.

Self-adjusting bungee strap, non-skid footplate

The marine-grade bungee heel strap adjusts itself. The re-engineered footplate has co-molded Grip Pads for non-skid footing on slippery boat decks and dive ladders.

Who it is for

Great for
  • Divers who like a stiffer fin with more feedback, the divers SCUBAPRO made it for
  • Tech divers, and anyone who sculls, frog kicks or back kicks a lot
  • Divers who like the Seawing Nova but want more power and control
Maybe not for
  • Divers who want a softer blade: the Gorilla is made stiffer on purpose. Look at the standard Seawing Nova, which SCUBAPRO says kicks with little to no ankle or leg strain, or ask us on LINE
  • Small feet that need XS: the Gorilla starts at S, while the Seawing Nova comes in XS

Size guide

Not sure about the size?

  • Stand on paper and measure from heel to the tip of your longest toe.
  • For strap fins, go by your boot size, not your bare foot.

FAQ

Seawing Nova Gorilla or Seawing Nova: what is the difference?

They look virtually the same: G4 joint, wing-shaped blade, Pivot Control Technology and bungee strap. The Gorilla adds a special additive to the Monprene® for a stiffer, snappier blade, with more power, control and feedback, and more effective sculling, frog kicks and back kicks. The Gorilla comes in 2 colours, S–XL; the Seawing Nova in 6 colours, XS–XL.

Which sizes are there, and how do I pick?

S, M, L and XL in both Army Green and Orange; there is no XS. Send us your shoe size and the boots you wear on LINE and we'll help you pick. You can exchange sizes within 7 days if unused and never in the water (you cover shipping both ways unless we sent the wrong item or it is faulty).

Does it float or sink?

SCUBAPRO lists its buoyancy as positive, so it floats.

Is it OK for beginners?

SCUBAPRO does not name a level. It lists the fin for recreational, professional and technical diving, but made it for divers who like a stiffer fin and calls it a good choice for tech divers. If you are just starting, look at the standard Seawing Nova, which SCUBAPRO says kicks with little to no ankle or leg strain. Not sure? Ask us on LINE before you choose.
