MK25 EVO / A700 Carbon BT

A metal body, a carbon fibre face, a Black Tech finish

SCUBAPRO calls the MK25 EVO / A700 Carbon BT the best-breathing regulator in its line and its leader in advanced design and materials. The A700 Carbon's main casing is full metal, with a very high heat exchange rate that SCUBAPRO says makes it a great choice for cold-water diving, and its front cover is handmade from lightweight, durable carbon fibre. It is teamed with the MK25 EVO, which SCUBAPRO describes as widely considered the gold standard in first-stage performance, and finished with a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) Black Tech coating. Highlights

A handmade carbon fibre cover on a metal case

The A700 Carbon has a metal case and a metal valve housing (barrel); the metal case fits a larger diaphragm into a compact casing. The front cover is handmade from carbon fibre, which is extremely light and takes substantial shocks without damage, unlike metal, which can change shape.

DLC Black Tech coating against scratches and corrosion

The system is finished with a deep, shiny DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) Black Tech coating that protects against corrosion and scratches. The first-stage body is Black Tech-coated brass.

MK25 EVO BT: an air-balanced piston first stage

The first stage uses an air-balanced piston, with two opposing HP ports, five LP ports on a swivel turret (four high-flow, one axial super high-flow) and intermediate pressure that technicians can adjust from outside. The second stage is air-balanced, with an inhalation effort knob you set yourself and a coaxial VIVA switch.

Built for cold water

The A700 Carbon's full metal casing has a very high heat exchange rate, which SCUBAPRO says makes it a great choice for cold-water diving. The first stage adds SCUBAPRO's patented XTIS (Extended Thermal Insulating System) and anti-freeze protection.

INT (yoke)

Clamp-on

The first stage clamps onto the tank valve and is secured by a screw knob.

DIN

Screw-in

A compact, streamlined connection that screws into the tank valve.

Who it is for

Great for
  • Cold-water divers: a metal casing with a high heat exchange rate, XTIS insulation and anti-freeze protection
  • Divers who want gear that resists scratches and knocks: a carbon fibre cover and a Black Tech finish
  • Divers who want to adjust breathing themselves, with the inhalation effort knob and the VIVA switch
  • Nitrox divers using mixes up to 40%
Maybe not for
  • Divers who don't need the carbon cover and Black Tech finish: look at the chrome MK25 EVO / A700, with the same metal-cased A700 second stage (INT only)
  • Divers using nitrox above 40%: SCUBAPRO rates it up to 40%, so ask us on LINE first

FAQ

How is it different from the MK25 EVO / A700?

Both pair an air-balanced piston MK25 EVO first stage (Black Tech-coated on the Carbon BT) with a metal-cased A700 second stage. The Carbon BT adds a handmade carbon fibre front cover and a DLC Black Tech coating against scratches and corrosion, comes with a regulator bag, and is available in INT or DIN. The MK25 EVO / A700 is the chrome version, listed in INT only on SCUBAPRO's page.

INT or DIN: which one should I choose?

It is how the first stage connects to the tank valve, so match the valves you dive with. INT (yoke) clamps onto the valve and is secured by a screw knob. DIN screws into the valve and is more compact and streamlined. Not sure? Ask us on LINE.

Can I use it with nitrox?

Yes. SCUBAPRO rates it for nitrox mixes up to 40%.

How many ports does it have?

Two opposing HP ports and five LP ports on a swivel turret: four high-flow and one axial super high-flow.
