Stratos 3

A warm-water full-foot fin, with the bending point moved back

Stratos 3 is Aqualung's full-foot fin for warm water: no boots required. Aqualung moved the fin's bending point, the Torsion Energy Point, further back, and says this gives a more powerful kick with less effort. The blade is made of strong, elastic technopolymers, with four channels that make water flow along the blade, side wings for swim performance and stability, and rubber side ribs for strength and resilience. The foot pocket is soft, grip on the inner sole stops your foot sliding inside the fin, and the underside grips on deck. Aqualung says Stratos 3 passed every anti-shock and stress test it put the fin through, and that it is lightweight.

Highlights

Soft full pocket, no boots needed

The full foot pocket is made of soft material for comfort, with no boots required. Grip on the inner sole keeps your foot from sliding around inside the fin, so it stays stable.

Torsion Energy Point, moved back

Aqualung targeted the point where this fin bends and moved it backward. Aqualung says the result is a more powerful kick with less effort.

Four-channel technopolymer blade with side wings

The blade is made of strong, elastic technopolymers. Its four channels make water flow along the blade for better hydrodynamics, and side wings add swim performance and stability, according to Aqualung.

Rubber side ribs, tested by Aqualung

Rubber ribs along the sides of the blade add strength and resilience. Aqualung says Stratos 3 passed every anti-shock and stress test it put the fin through.

No-slip sole

The underside has excellent grip to reduce the risk of slipping on deck.

Who it is for

Great for
  • Warm-water divers who dive barefoot: Aqualung makes Stratos 3 as a full-foot fin for warm water, no boots required
  • Divers who want more power for less effort: Aqualung moved the fin's bending point back for exactly that
  • Boat divers: the underside grips on deck
Maybe not for
  • Divers in boots or cold water: Stratos 3 is a full-foot fin; for boots, Aqualung makes Phazer and Storm Max, open-heel fins for boots and cold water
  • Divers who need length, weight or a size chart before they order: Aqualung's page does not list them, so ask us on LINE

Not sure about the size?

  • Stand on paper and measure from heel to the tip of your longest toe.

FAQ

How do I pick a size?

Aqualung's page lists six sizes: 36, 38, 40, 42, 44 and 46, without saying which size system they use, and we don't have Aqualung's size chart for this model yet. Send us your shoe size on LINE and we'll help you pick. You can exchange sizes within 7 days if unused and never in the water (you cover shipping both ways unless we sent the wrong item or it is faulty).

Do I need boots?

No. Stratos 3 is a full-foot fin that Aqualung makes for warm water, no boots required. If you dive in boots, look at Aqualung's open-heel fins such as Phazer or Storm Max.

What is the difference between Stratos 3 and Storm?

Both are worn barefoot. Stratos 3 is a full-foot fin with a four-channel technopolymer blade, side wings and rubber side ribs, in sizes 36–46. Storm is an open-heel fin worn barefoot, made in one material (Monprene), with a compact blade, a silicone bungee strap, junior and adult sizes (XS/S–XXL), and Aqualung calls it ideal for travel.

Is it OK for beginners?

Aqualung does not name a skill level. It says the soft pocket is comfortable and the bending point, moved back, gives a more powerful kick with less effort. If you want the fin Aqualung designs for every level, from student to pro, look at Phazer, which is worn with boots. Not sure? Ask us on LINE.

How long and heavy are they?

Aqualung says Stratos 3 is lightweight, but its page gives no length or weight figures. If you need them before you order, for example to pack for a trip, ask us on LINE.

Which colours are there?

Two: Yellow/Black and Black/Dark Grey.
