Leg3nd Elite

Breathing you fine-tune yourself, crafted for challenging dives

Aqualung crafted the Leg3nd Elite for diving in challenging and extreme environments, and says it gives exceptional breathing comfort and performance in any dive condition. Advanced divers can fine-tune the breathing resistance with independent micro-adjustments to match how they breathe. It is made with stainless-steel parts, and the controls sit intuitively at your fingertips. The over-balanced first stage has an Auto Closure Device (ACD) and a permanent dry chamber. Designed and made in France.

Highlights

Over-balanced first stage for lighter breathing

Aqualung says the over-balanced (also called auto-balanced) design overcompensates the interstage pressure to reduce your breathing effort, regardless of depth or tank pressure. Two HP ports and four MP ports are positioned for optimal hose routing.

Auto Closure Device (ACD)

When the regulator is off the cylinder valve, the ACD keeps the inlet shut, so debris and corrosive water stay away from the internal parts. It helps maintain oxygen compatibility, preserve the internal lubrication and keep the inlet filter clean and dry. A dust cap attached to the body protects the inlet fitting and the ACD from impacts.

Built to resist ice in cold water

A permanent dry chamber isolates the internal parts from the water outside, keeping them clean and dry and improving freeze resistance in cold water. Deep ribs give the first stage a large heat-exchange surface, and the overmolded cap delays ice forming over the external diaphragm. In the second stage, a heat exchanger prevents ice forming on the valve inlet. The DIN and yoke screws have a two-material Soft Grip surface that helps with cold hands.

Two ways to tune the second stage

Set the Venturi switch to MIN for a higher inhalation effort, ideal to avoid free-flow, or to MAX for a lighter breath; you can work it even in gloves. The cracking-effort adjustment fine-tunes breathing for different dive conditions. Wide radial openings in the cover let water flow sideways over the diaphragm, which Aqualung says prevents free-flows in strong currents and reduces cracking effort by 20%. An air channel deflector spreads the airflow evenly and lowers exhalation effort.

Comfo-Bite mouthpiece, changed without tools

The Comfo-Bite mouthpiece, patented by Aqualung, has a palate bridge that reduces jaw fatigue and is made of hypoallergenic silicone. You change mouthpieces without tools, using a reusable clip, so no plastic goes to waste. The purge button is overmolded, the exhaust cover has a soft-touch finish, and the Aqua Flex hose is flexible and lightweight, with dual protectors.

Who it is for

Great for
  • Advanced divers who want to tune their breathing: Aqualung says they will appreciate the independent micro-adjustments
  • Divers who face strong currents or cold water: Aqualung crafted it for challenging and extreme environments
  • Nitrox divers: Aqualung rates it up to 40% O₂ when new, out of the box (21% in Europe)
Maybe not for
  • New divers not sure they need fine adjustments yet: Aqualung aims them at advanced divers, so ask us on LINE which regulator suits your diving

FAQ

DIN or INT: which one should I choose?

It is how the first stage connects to the tank valve, so match the valves you dive with. Aqualung lists the first stage at 747 g (26 oz) in DIN and 957 g (34 oz) in INT (yoke), with a maximum working pressure of 300 bar in DIN and 232 bar in yoke. Not sure? Ask us on LINE.

When do I use the MIN / MAX switch and the cracking-effort adjuster?

The Venturi switch at MIN gives a higher inhalation effort, which Aqualung calls ideal to avoid free-flow; MAX gives a lighter breath, and you can switch it in gloves. The cracking-effort adjuster fine-tunes breathing for different dive conditions. The two adjust independently.

Can I use it in cold water?

Aqualung marks it for cold and warm water. The first stage has a permanent dry chamber that improves freeze resistance, deep ribs for a large heat-exchange surface and an overmolded cap that delays ice on the external diaphragm. The second stage has a heat exchanger that prevents ice forming on the valve inlet.

Can I use it with nitrox?

Aqualung lists it as compatible up to 40% O₂ when new, out of the box (21% in Europe). Planning to dive nitrox? Ask us first.

Is it OK for beginners?

Aqualung says the Leg3nd Elite is for all depths, all conditions and all dives, and aims its fine adjustments at advanced divers. If you are just starting and not sure you need them, ask us on LINE.

How many ports does it have?

Two HP ports (7/16" UNF) and four MP ports (3/8" UNF), positioned by Aqualung for optimal hose routing.
